Lonely Panampattu srilanka

 Panampattu srilanka

At the far end of the eastern coast, 'Panama' Beach, located in the Kudumbigala Reserve, is a relatively secluded place that has received little attention from local tourists.

This beautiful village, which is located at a distance of 7 to 8 hours from Colombo city, can be reached from the city via Daha Atavanguwa, Mahiyangana, Bibila, Monaragala, Siambalanduwa and Pottuvil. Pothuvil town is the most convenient town if you want to buy something during the trip and you can reach Panama after about 17km from there.

It is said in history that during the Uva Wellassa Rebellion in the past, a group of warriors who had retreated in an organized manner took Panampattu as their abode and others fled to areas like Akkareipattu and Lahugala.

At present, between 1750 - 1800 families live in Panama village, of which 80% are Sinhalese and 20% Tamil, according to population statistics.

Even though it is a village located near the sea, the majority of people use agriculture as their livelihood as it has been from the past. In addition, fishing has also been the livelihood of some.

While visiting Panama, you will have the opportunity to enjoy the experience of a beautiful beach and coastal village life, and another important place that you can visit is the 'Panama Angpitiya Pattini Temple', which is full of miracles from the distant past.
